Rhyl Airshow 2022

The Rhyl Air Show was back this summer with a spectacular line up 27th and 28th August 2022 the first show since 2019

For the first time in Rhyl Air Show’s history, The Red Arrows and The Typhoon displayed on both days

The award winning air show is fast becoming North Wales’s biggest Free seafront event the show features spectacular aerial displays and land-based attractions and entertainment.

I only attended on the Sunday as I was at The U.S. AutoShow held at Oulton Park on Saturday Link Here

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is a Royal Air Force flight which provides an aerial display group usually comprising an Avro Lancaster, a Supermarine Spitfire and a Hawker Hurricane.

The Red Arrows at Rhyl Air Show on Sunday

During Sunday’s performance Red 6, squadron leader Gregor Ogston, had been the victim of a “bird strike” – where a bird had collided with the jet mid-air. The bird had struck the section of the £5m jet’s glass cockpit – just above where the pilot sits – at such force that the impact shattered the canopy, leaving it with a gaping hole and its pilot exposed to the elements. Red 6 was forced to break off from the rest of the team and return to Hawarden Airport the jet landed safely and the pilot was unhurt. News Report Here including one of my images

Rhyl Walkabout July 2022

A mixed bunch from my July walkabout, including the new Zip Wire – Balloon attraction being setup next to the beach and the 1891 Bar & Restaurant

“Based on the stunning sunny Rhyl coast, Zip World Rhyl is home to Skyflyer, the world’s only sight-seeing experience of its kind, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views, hovering 140m – 400ft in the air on our balloon airship. Alongside Skyflyer, we have Big Red, a mini side-by-side zip lining adventure, perfect for families, friends and couples. Keep your feet firmly on the ground and enjoy a spot to eat at the 1891 restaurant and bar, located inside the Pavilion, where you can watch the adventure unfold. With nearby parking and stunning views of the North Wales coast, this is the perfect spot to lose a couple of hours”

BIG RED features two side-by-side lines, making it perfect for friends and family to race each other to the end. The zip wires are suspended 30 feet high, and are located parallel to the Skyflyer airship.

Day Out In Rhyl 2022 part 6

My 6th day out of 2022 was another local walk around Rhyl Promenade while a carer sitting service was with my Dad. We have had several storms in the last few weeks and the weather wasn’t looking great for my few hours out, fortunately it didn’t rain but I had to deal with Hail and the Sandstorm being blown from the beach in the intermittent gale force winds.

Rhyl Events Arena -Sir Tom Jones did a live concert here 1st Spetember 2021
Rhyl Events Arena has been the venue for many memorable events over the years, McFly, Radio 1 Roadshow, Jason Donavan, UB40, Madness to name but a few
