I would like to invite you to join me on my new Landscape Photograpy Site at WordPress, this site is not a blog, as we can see I’m not very good or motivated at keeping my blog updated, especially in these pandemic times when like many are not getting out.
I hope you are safe wherever you are and keeping busy, I find keeping busy makes life less deppressing, especially with the near year long pandemic situation not getting any better.
Like a good many I have not been going out taking photos this year, so i have been trawling through my old photo archives looking for something to edit or manipulate.
With Christmas just around the corner I thought i would take the opportunity to mention some promos available on some of the online shop where i sell my images. Who dosent like a discount, right?

Other common names include liveforever and hen and chicks. They are succulent perennials forming mats composed of tufted leaves in rosettes. At the time this piece was created, watch movements and cases were sold separately. A watchmaker would craft each timepiece by hand, and then wholesale his movements to jewellers, who might either fit the piece in a particular case, or, allow the customer to choose a case and watch separately. This custom has resulted in many watches which bear the name of one person or maker on the movement and a different one on the case or face of the watch.
The movement of this watch is a fusee, a rare type of movement that runs not just on coiled springs, but also employs a grooved cone wound with a tiny chain, which coils around another post in a pulley system. Inspired by the winches and counter balances of the rigging of sailing ships, this method was used to refine the timekeeping of the movement by regulating the speed at which the mainspring unwinds.
This movement is inscribed with the watchmakers name, Char Davidson, and home city: London. Research could provide no watchmakers registered in London around this time with the name of Davidson, however, a Charles Davidson, watchmaker was operating at this time near Dundee, Scotland. It cannot be proved, but it’s believed that this watch was made in Scotland, but inscribed with the city of sale – London – instead of the city of manufacture – Dundee. There are several reasons that this might have been done, but the most likely is simply to fetch a higher price for a piece marked with the cosmopolitan city ‘London’! This watch, like all fusee movements, is a key wind.
Dates back to around 1793

Some photos from the last few weeks, managed to get a day out in Snowdonia. The day started off grey and overcase to bright blue skies, which is always a challenge, but as I was on my own there was no rush or plan.
Recently bought a macro lens Tamron 90mm, as i spend a lot of time at home looking after my Dad it seemed a worth while investment especially with all the flowers blossoming in the garden.

while very beautiful with its trumpet like blossoms, are very poisonous to dogs, cats, and even humans! Foxglove contains naturally-occurring poisons that affect the heart, specifically cardenolides or bufadienolides. These poisons are called cardiac glycoside toxins, and they interfere directly with electrolyte balance within the heart muscle.
The Latin name, Digitalis, means ‘finger-like’ and refers to the tubular flowers of the Foxglove. It is also the name of the drug that comes from the toxins of Foxgloves and is prescribed for heart conditions.

My first day out in over 6 months the weather forecast had showed my chosen day as being the best for the upcoming week.
Where I live on the coast was lovely when I woke and I was
excited to be getting out after so long, I even watched a few YouTube refresher
videos on using my camera.
It’s nearly a 1 hour drive to the mountains of Snowdonia and
the weather had changed dramatically on arrival, most of the day was thick
clouds, rain and wind not the ideal weather for a photography day out in the
mountains especially when I like to get foreground, middle and distance
compositions.
I decided it was pointless being depressed sitting in the
car so braved the elements with my 10 stop filter fitted to the camera to try
and get some drama.
Here are a few that I managed.

Llanddwyn Island is situated near the southern entrance to the Menai Strait – a stretch of water than runs between the west coast of Wales and Angelsey, UK. As a result it became an an important route for shipping of slate from the ports of Bangor, Caernarfon and Felinhelli. Originally a beacon (Twr Bach) was built at the tip of the island to provide guidance to ships heading for the Strait but later, in 1845, another more effective lighthouse, Twr Mawr, was added – which was modelled on the windmills of Anglesey.

The distinctive bottle-shaped chimneys of the bottle oven. The kilns in which the china was fired. The outer wall of the bottle oven acts as a chimney. It is known as the ‘hovel’ and gives the oven its distinctive bottle shape. Inside the hovel is the kiln proper. The china would be placed in fire-clay boxes known as ‘saggars’ to be fired in the kiln. A kiln could contain up to 2,000 saggars. This kiln was a biscuit kiln, used to give the china its first firing.
