Weekly Photo Challenge: Vibrant

In response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge: Vibrant

I decided to go with the vibrant red theme

The Smallest House
The Smallest House in Great Britain, also known as the Quay House, is a tourist attraction on the quay in Conwy, Wales. The house, which has a floor area of 3.05 metre by 1.8 metre (10 feet by 6 feet) and a height of 3.1 metre (10 feet 2 inches) to the eaves, was used as a residence from the 16th century until 1900; as its name indicates, it is reputed to be Britain’s smallest house. The house was lived in until 1900, when the owner was a 6 ft 3 inch (1.9 metres) fisherman. The rooms were too small for him to stand up in fully and he was eventually forced to move out when the council declared the house unfit for human habitation.
Post Box

Vintage Red
The Austin-Healey 3000 is a British sports car built from 1959 to 1967, and is the best known of the big Healey models. The car’s bodywork was made by Jensen Motors, and the vehicles were assembled at the BMC Abingdon works. The 3000 was a successful car which won its class in many European rallies in its heyday, and is still used in competition by enthusiasts today. The 3000 Mark III was launched in October 1963, and remained in production until the end of 1967 when production of Austin-Healeys ceased. Classified as the BJ8, the new model was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys, with a walnut-veneer dash, wind-up windows, and a 150 hp engine. Improvements to the engine included a new camshaft and valve springs, and twin SU 2″ HD8 carburetors, together with a new design of exhaust system. Servo-assisted brakes were now fitted as standard. Only 2+2 seat versions were made. Option extras were similar to those offered for the Mark II, the main change being that the standard interior trim was now Ambla vinyl, with leather seats being added to the list of options.
Pier Flags

Llyn Geirionydd lies in a valley near Capel Curig and Betws y Coed, North Wales UK, where the northern edge of the Gwydyr Forest meets the lower slopes of the Carneddau mountains. The lake is almost a mile long and covers an area of 45 acres
Signal Box
Originally, all signalling was done by mechanical means. Points and signals were operated locally from individual levers or handles, requiring the signalman to walk between the various pieces of equipment to set them in the required position for each train that passed. Before long, it was realised that control should be concentrated into one building, which came to be known as a signal box. The signal box provided a dry, climate controlled space for the complex interlocking mechanics and also the signalman. The raised design of most signal boxes also provided the signalman with a good view of the railway under his control. The first use of a signal box was by the London and Croydon Railway in 1844

INRI Stained Glass

The Cathedral
The Cathedral is the home of the William Morgan Bible and as such provides a vital link with Welsh culture and literature. Many visitors describe the Cathedral as a Hidden Gem The present building was begun in the thirteenth century and is reputed to be the smallest ancient cathedral in Great Britain.
Mansion Bedroom

Llanrwst Bridge
3 Arches of the Pont Fawr Bridge, Llanrwst, north Wales, UK. A ford crossed the river Conwy in this vicinity long before it was bridged. The original bridge was declared unsafe in 1626 and preparations began for its replacement, In 1634 four Lancashire stonemasons were contracted to build the new bridge. The year 1636 and the royal coat of arms are shown on a plaque on the upstream side of the bridge, which is known as Pont Fawr – large bridge. The workmen who built the bridge inserted the keystones for the central arch upside down. This was not discovered until the opening day, when the arch collapsed. The central arch rises to c.18 metres above the water. The bridge features cutwaters – stonework shaped like a ship’s bow – up its full height. The river is the outlet for rainwater and meltwater from across a large area of Snowdonia one of the wettest places in Britain. The western arch was rebuilt in 1703, after the original collapsed in 1702. Since then the bridge has stood the test of countless floods and the advent of motorised road vehicles. The bridge is too narrow for vehicles to pass, and the hump-back limits forward visibility. This explains the local nickname Pont y Rhegi – bridge of swearing.

Three Wise Monkeys
3 wise Monkey Graffiti on The Duke of Lancaster, a railway steamer passenger ship that operated in Europe from 1956 to 1979, and is currently beached near Mostyn Docks, on the River Dee, north-east Wales. The Lancaster was sold to Liverpool based company Empirewise Ltd, who intended her to be used as a static leisure centre and market. She arrived at her new home at Llanerch-y-Mor, near Mostyn, on 10 August 1979. The ship was brought into a permanent dock and the hull was sealed not in concrete, as is commonly thought, but surrounded by a large tonnage of sand pulled out of the Dee estuary. Known as The Fun Ship, it was also possible to visit her bridge and engine room. Conversion for use as a 300-room hotel did not appear to go beyond the preliminary planning stage. Its use as The Fun Ship was relatively short-lived and it was subsequently closed to the public because access to the ship is via a bridge under the North Wales railway line, which is too low for emergency vehicles. Over time, the vessel has become increasingly derelict. The ship was later used as a warehouse by its owners Solitaire Liverpool Ltd, a clothing company registered to the same address as Empirewise Ltd. Despite rumours that the ship would be scrapped, the company stated that they have no plans either to sell it or to restore it and its current use is uncertain. Despite having large amounts of its exterior paintwork covered in rust, the interior of the ship is in good condition. It was featured in the 2011 series of BBC2s Coast. (Wikipedia)
