Photo Day Out 2021

My first photography days out in over 1.5 years.
I was lucky enough to have my first day out with Mike, we headed off to Snowdonia National Park north Wales, one of our favourite photographic locations an hour away, unfortunately the weather wasn’t as good as the forecast predicted with low cloud staying around the mountain most of the day, we had to work at trying to get some good shots with Mike driving us to different locations. Thank you Mike for all the driving.

My second day out the following week the weather was actually very nice and made the photography easier.
Often the bad weather actually makes for a more interesting photo.

I have included some of the shot of both days.

Day 1

Some old ruins and wonderful trees near the old roman road leading past Pentre Farm, Nant Ffrancon valley Snowdonia
Yup the intrepid photographer mike climbs up the river bank near Cwm Idwal, a very popular attraction for visitors interested in walking, climbing, fishing and geology.

Day 2

Dolbadarn Castle is a fortification built by the Welsh prince Llywelyn the Great during the early 13th century, at the base of the Llanberis Pass. The castle was important both militarily and as a symbol of Llywelyn’s power and authority. The castle features a large stone keep, which historian Richard Avent considers the finest surviving example of a Welsh round tower.

Dolbadarn Castle panorama including the town of Llanberis and edge padarn lake
Anglesey Barracks in Dinorwic Quarry, comprised two rows of 11 dwellings, served as accommodation for quarrymen, they would spend the week based in the barracks working in the quarry, leaving their homes very early on Monday morning and returning Saturday afternoon. Conditions were spartan. Each two-room unit had a living area with a fireplace and a sleeping area for four men. Facilities were scant no running water, toilets or electricity. Public-health inspectors closed down these barracks in 1948.
The Dinorwic quarry is a large former slate quarry was once the second largest slate quarry in the world, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in North Wales Backdrop is Snowdon the highest mountain in Wales, has been described as – probably the busiest mountain in Britain. It is designated as a national nature reserve for its rare flora and fauna.

Tonight’s Supermoon is a combination of two astronomical phenomena – a Full Moon and lunar perigee. Perigee is the lowest point in the Moon’s orbit when the lunar orb is closest to our planet. If a Full Moon peaks within 90 percent of perigee, it is popularly known as a Supermoon. As a result, a Supermoon can appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than an average Full Moon.
